Chinese Bronze Double Owl Vessel, Qing Dynasty, (1644 - 1912). Extremely detailed carving in the Shang style, the double-owl you, where the form of the vessel is contrived from two owls joined together back to back. The owl retains its natural form and has a hooked beak, flat, ears, plump body and four squat legs, its breast and wings covered with taotie motifs. Six character mark incised to base. Ornate loop handle to the upper body with even patina to the bronze surface. 23cm high, 20cm wide. CR – Ware consistent with age
